Healing Skin From The Inside Out
Are you aware of the Gut-Brain-Skin connection?
With such a focus on total body wellness, more and more people are paying attention to their gut health. When I decided to go back to school to study to be a nutritionist, I had two options: Holistic Nutritionist or a Traditional Nutritionist.
I opted for the Holistic route, and here's why. I wanted to study how the foods we eat affect our body, positively or negatively. I also had an interest in how eating specific foods could decrease our risk of chronic illness (and in some cases, reverse chronic illness diagnoses.)
Having a “sensitive” stomach was something I just thought I was born with. Having to undergo an emergency cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal) was also something I thought was simply hereditary. I had no idea that our gut is a major part of our brain function, immune system, and skin functions… until it affected me personally!
Did you know that an imbalance in your gut microbiota as well as overworked adrenals can influence a connection between inflammatory skin conditions and mental health conditions such as depression? This is HUGE!
There is an opportunity here for many of us to individually adjust our lifestyles to positively influence our body's illnesses, and especially skin conditions.
Turn Back Time: Age Mgmt Tips
How do I address visible signs of aging?
It's important to understand that in the past two and a half years, we have ALL endured more stress than our bodies know how to bear. With this being said, our stress hormone CORTISOL has been off the charts. There is a direct correlation between excess stress and the aging process.
So if you looked at photos of yourself from 2019, and are curious why you are seeing visible signs of aging that weren't there before, you aren't crazy. You survived a time we no longer like to think about.
It's time to focus on firming, lifting, and strengthening. Did you know we have over 55 muscles in our face? When is the last time they got a workout? Enter: DMK Muscle Banding Treatments. Muscle Banding works to address poor circulation and lymph drainage resulting in the loss of structural integrity, weakened capillaries, and decreased collagen production. For premature aging, a series of 3 is ideal; and for more advanced age management concerns, 6-12 treatments may be needed!
