A Lesson in lymphatic

INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT YOUR LYMPH

Your lymphatic system is an elaborate network of vessels and nodes, carrying a clear fluid called lymph. The fluid isn't just a waste collector, it's a lifeline for your body's health. It nourishes cells, removes waste, and plays a crucial role in immune function. There are so many incredible things about this intricate system in your body! Here are a few facts you should know about your lymphatic system:

01. Unlike the circulatory system with the heart as a pump, the lymphatic system doesn't have a pump. Instead, it relies on muscle contractions, breathing, and body movement to propel lymph fluid.

02. Lymph is a colorless fluid that originates from the blood plasma. It carries immune cells, waste products, nutrients, and hormones throughout the body.

03. Proper lymphatic drainage prevents fluid accumulation, which can lead to puffiness and dullness in the skin. When the lymphatic system is compromised, it can contribute to skin problems like fine lines, dryness, and acne.

04. Immune cells travel through the lymphatic system to reach areas of infection or inflammation.

05. There are between 400-800 lymph nodes in the body that constantly monitor and filter the lymph to remove toxins, waste, and pathogens.

We focus a ton on gut health when it comes to treating the skin, but our body operates as a system, so tending to your body's lymphatic system is key as well for total skin health!

Here are some ways to know if your lymphatic system could use some love: acne, constant brain fog, constant headaches, constipation, chronic fatigue, hormonal imbalance, digestive issues, weakened immune system, fluid retention.

Not many people know that your lymphatic system affects your entire body, but now you are a lymphatic system expert! By prioritizing practices that promote lymph flow, you're actively boosting your body's resilience, assisting in detoxification, and strengthening your immune response.
